The Greensboro Gargoyles traded two key pieces on Tuesday, along with adding another college signing to the roster.

Logan Nelson Traded To Fort Wayne

The Greensboro Gargoyles have traded captain Logan Nelson to the Fort Wayne Komets in exchange for future considerations. Nelson, 32, has 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points in 39 games with the Gargoyles. He was the first signing by the Gargoyles and was eventually named the captain for Greensboro. Nelson becomes the second captain this season to be traded, after Christopher Brown, who was traded from the Jacksonville Icemen to the Toledo Walleye.The Rogers, Michigan, native is in his 11th season in the ECHL as he’s put up 171 goals and 283 assists for 454 points while playing for 11 different teams. Nelson has added 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 25 career Kelly Cup Playoff games.

For the Komets, this is a huge signing as Nelson is now reunited with Alex Aleardi who he spent time with in Rapid City. The Komets also get another player who can produce some offence down the stretch and be a big piece come playoff time.

Anthony Rinaldi To South Carolina

The Greensboro Gargoyles have traded forward Anthony Rinaldi to the South Carolina Stingrays in exchnage for future considerations. Rinaldi, 30, had 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points in 56 games during his time with the Gargoyles.

He had spent the last three season playing overseas with the Tilburg Trappers (Germany3), Dundee Stars (EIHL), and Cergy-Pontoise (Ligue Magnus). Prior to going overseas, the Pierrefonds, Quebec, native spent parts of two seasons in the ECHL with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Kansas City Mavericks. In 88 games with KC and Greenville, he had 22 goals and 26 assists for 48 points. Rinaldi would add two goals in 10 Kelly Cup Playoff games with the Stingrays. He also played in six AHL games with the Tuscon Roadrunners. For the Stingrays, the additon of Rinaldi adds a solid middle-six piece to their lineup. This was just one of the many moves the Stingrays made on Tuesday.

Nate Hanley Signed

The Greensboro Gargoyles add another new face to the roster with the signing of forward Nate Hanley. Hanley, 23, joins the Gargoyles after spending the four seasons in the NCAA at Union College. During his time with the Garnet Chargers, he had 25 goals and 72 assists for 97 points in 143 games.

Prior to playing in the NCAA, the Rocky Point, NY, native spent parts of four seasons in the USHL playing for Cedar Rapid Roughriders, Youngstown Phantoms, and Green Bay Gamblers. In 162 USHL games, he had 25 goals and 38 assists for 63 points, while also playing in seven USHL playoff games. This is just one of a handful of college signings that the Gargoyles have made in the past week.
