The Jacksonville Icemen announced Friday that they have agreed to terms with forward Colby Ambrosio for the 2026-27 season, bringing back a versatile forward after his rookie campaign with the club.
Ambrosio, 23, split the 2025-26 season between the Toledo Walleye and the Jacksonville Icemen, recording 21 points (13G, 8A) in 53 games. Acquired by the Icemen during the season, the Welland, Ontario native added offensive depth and versatility to Jacksonville’s lineup down the stretch.
Although last season marked Ambrosio’s first full professional campaign, he had already shown his offensive upside during his pro debut late in the 2024-25 season. He appeared in 12 regular-season games with Toledo, posting eight points (3G, 5A), before adding 11 points in 18 Kelly Cup Playoff games as the Walleye advanced to the Kelly Cup Finals. That playoff run gave Ambrosio valuable professional experience entering his first full season, where he continued to develop after splitting time between Toledo and Jacksonville.
Before beginning his professional career, Ambrosio spent five seasons in the NCAA. He played four years at Boston College before transferring to Miami University (Ohio) for his graduate season, finishing his collegiate career with 86 points. His play at the collegiate level also caught the attention of NHL scouts, leading the Colorado Avalanche to select him in the fourth round (118th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
Ambrosio becomes the second player to sign with Jacksonville for the 2026-27 season, joining defenseman Jaden Condotta as the Icemen continue building their roster for the upcoming campaign.
