The ECHL Department of Player Safety has suspended Maine Mariners forward Jacob Perreault one game for his actions in yesterday’s game vs Trois-Rivières Lions. At the 12:32 mark of the third period, Perreault would board Lions defenseman Jake Gravelle. He would be assessed a major penalty for boarding on the play. Perreault will miss Wednesday’s game vs Adirondack Thunder. In 35 games this season with Maine, he’s put up 13 goals and 22 assists for 35 points. He’s added three goals and two assists for five points in 14 games with the Providence Bruins. This is a big loss for the Mariners in a key game as they look to lock up home-ice advantage.

The Montrèal, Quebec, native is in his sixth season as a pro, spending the majority of his career in the AHL. In 232 games with the San Diego Gulls, Bakersfield Condors, and Laval Rocket, he’s put up 39 goals and 73 assists for 112 points. Perreault also had one assist during two games during the 2022 Calder Cup with the Gulls. He also played one game with the Anaheim Ducks in the 2021-22 season. Last season, Perreault put up a goal and four assists in five games with the Trois-Rivières Lions. This was his first taste of ECHL hockey.

Prior to going pro, Perreault spent two seasons in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting, putting up 69 goals and 56 assists for 125 points in 120 games. He would add a goal and an assist for two points in four games during the 2019 OHL playoffs.
