The Kansas City Mavericks have clinched the Brabham Cup after the Florida Everblades lost in OT to the Jacksonville Icemen on Saturday Night. This is the second time in three years that the Mavericks have won the Brabham Cup. Kansas City has now made the Kelly Cup Playoffs in each of the last four seasons and will once again hold home-ice advantage through the playoffs, as they’ve also already clinched the Mountain Division for the third straight season. However, KC has played better on the road this season, going 26-3-1-2 in 32 games away from Cable Dahmer Arena. They are 26-7-1 over the course of their 34 home games. Kansas City will once again look to break the Brabham Cup curse, as the last team to win both the Brabham Cup and Kelly Cup was the Alaska Aces in 2014.

Heading into the Kelly Cup Playoffs, the Mavericks have all the pieces to make another deep run, having lost to Florida in the finals in 2024 and to the Toledo Walleye in the Western Conference Finals last season. The Mavericks currently have five different players with at least 20 goals this season (Jackson Jutting, Jack Randl, Casey Carreau, David Cotton, and Bobo Carpenter). Marcus Crawford is also having an MVP season with 14 goals and 70 assists for 84 points in 67 games this season.
Goaltending has once again been a strong point for the Mavericks as Jack LaFontaine and Logan Terness both have 20 wins on the season. As a team, the Mavericks are in the top five in shots allowed per game and second in both goals for and against per game. Regardless of the opponent, the Mavericks will open up the Kelly Cup Playoffs on April 24th.
