The Utica Comets have recalled defenseman Luke Reid from the Adirondack Thunder. Reid, 24, has spent the entire season with the Adirondack Thunder, where he’s put up three goals and 16 assists for 19 points in 57 games. This is a huge loss for the Adirondack, as Reid is the second defenseman to be called up to Utica in the last 72 hours, joining Jackson van de Leest. He had two assists in five games last year with Utica. I would expect at least one or two signings on the blueline by the Thunder before Friday’s game in Norfolk.

The Warman, Saskatchewan, native had a goal and an assist in six games last season with the Thunder. Prior to joining Adirondack, he played three years in juniors. In his first year in juniors, he had two goals and 16 assists for 18 points while being a +36 in 54 games with the Penticon Vees in the BCHL. Reid would add two assists in 11 playoff games with the Vees. He would then spend two seasons in the USHL with the Chicago Steel, where he had four goals and 34 assists for 38 points in 105 games. During the 2019 Clark Cup Playoffs, Reid had three assists in 11games. Over the course of his four years in the NCAA at the University of New Hampshire, he had eight goals and 41 assists for 49 points in 162 games with the Wildcats.
