Fort Wayne Komets forward Lynden McCallum is heading overseas to Germany (DEL2) to join EHC Freiburg after spending his first five seasons in North America. McCallum, 25, had seven goals and three assists for 10 points in 27 games with the Maine Mariners , including two assists in his last game with the team. In six games with the Komets, he put up a goal and two assists for three points, two of which came in his first game this season with Fort Wayne. He is the second member of the Komets to take the overseas route, joining Odeen Tufto, who has since had his rights traded to the Adirondack Thunder.
The Portage la Prairie, Manitoba native spent the first five years of his professional career in North America. His only AHL experience came in his first season, where he had a goal and four assists for five points in 20 games with the Henderson Silver Knights. Over the course of his five seasons in the ECHL, he’s put up 58 goals and 55 assists for 113 points in 182 games with the Savannah Ghost Pirates, Idaho Steelheads, Maine Mariners, and Fort Wayne Komets. He has two goals and two assists for four points in 17 Kelly Cup Playoff games.
Prior to going pro, McCallum spent parts of four seasons in the WHL with the Brandon Wheat Kings. In 132 WHL games, he had 43 goals and 24 assists for 67 points. During the 2020-21 season, he led the WHL with 21 goals in 22 games.
