Fort Wayne Komets forward Matt Brown is heading overseas to Sweden to join IK Oskarshamn (HockeyAllsvenskan) after spending three seasons in North America. In 42 games with the Komets this season, he had 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points. He would add five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 15 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Brown also saw time in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors, where he had one assist in 17 games. The 26-year-old forward is the second player from the ECHL to join IK Oskarshamn this season, joining Danny Dzhaniyev.

The Wood Ridge, NJ, native spent his first two professional seasons in the Philadelphia Flyers organization prior to joining the Komets. During his time with the Reading Royals, he had 32 goals and 50 assists for 82 points in 92 games. He had one assist in four games during the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs. At the AHL level, Brown had two assists in 19 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Junior and NCAA Career

Prior to going pro, Brown played two seasons of junior hockey. He played in 63 games in the USHL, with the majority of his time coming with the Des Moines Buccaneers. In 57 games with the Buccaneers, he had 30 goals and 27 assists for 57 points. He would add two goals and four assists for six points in five playoff games. In 41 games in the NAHL with the Odessa Jackalopes, he had 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points. He would add one goal in three playoff games with the Jackalopes. Brown would then take the NCAA route, spending two years at U-Mass Lowell and Boston University. During his time at U-Mass Lowell, he had 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points in 52 games. As a member of the Terriors, he had 23 goals and 41 assists for 64 points in 63 games. The Terriers won the Hockey East Championship in Brown’s final season of eligibility.
