ECHL: Mitch Wahl Returns to Idaho

Mitch Wahl started his professional career in the AHL, where he spent time playing for the Abbotsford Heat, Hamilton Bulldogs, Adirondack Phantoms, and Utica Comets. In five seasons, Wahl played in 71 games where he had six goals and 13 assists for 19 points with 26 penalty minutes and a -7. He was originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the second round of the 2008 NHL Draft.

During that time, Wahl also spent time playing in the ECHL, where he played for the Utah Grizzlies, Idaho Steelheads, and Florida Everblades. In 201 ECHL games, Wahl has registered 71 goals and 143 assists for 214 points with 464 penalty minutes and a -12.

International Career

After some time in North America, Wahl decided to continue his career overseas, where he has spent the past ten seasons. During that time, he has played in Austria, Sweden, Finland, Slovakia, and most recently, Germany.

Wahl has spent most of the past six seasons playing in DEL and DEL2 in Germany. In DEL, Wahl has played with Fischtown Pinguins and Schwenninger Wild Wings. In DEL2, he has played for Eispiraten Crimmitschau, EC Kassel Huskies, and Dresdner Eislöwen. During his time in the DEL, Wahl put up ten goals and 17 assists for 27 points with 40 penalty minutes and a -24. In DEL2, Wahl has played in 106 games where he has 34 goals and 53 assists for 87 points with 154 penalty minutes and a -1.

Mitch Wahl is a great forward who not only brings offense, but he also brings leadership and a lot of experience to the Steelheads. With all of Wahl’s experience, he is able to read the ice incredibly well, allowing him to find open spots on the ice and score, or set up teammates to score.
