The Tulsa Oilers added a major offensive piece with the acquisition of Patrick Guay, a 23-year-old center/left wing from Magog, Quebec. The 5’9”, 179-pound forward was drafted in the fifth round (#145 overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Vegas Golden Knights and brings both AHL experience and strong ECHL production to his new club.
Guay was acquired from the Savannah Ghost Pirates as part of a future considerations deal. For the Ghost Pirates, the move clears a roster spot while adding flexibility to address team needs as the season progresses.
Guay split last season between Savannah and Maine, collecting a combined 14 goals and 28 points in 67 games. His best stretch came with the Ghost Pirates in 2022–23, when he finished with 16 goals and 52 points in 49 games, establishing himself as one of the team’s top playmakers. In 2023–24, he added another 29 points in 25 ECHL games with Savannah while also earning a look in Henderson, Vegas’ AHL affiliate.
In total, Guay has appeared in 33 AHL games across two seasons with Henderson, producing six points (2G, 4A). While he hasn’t yet stuck full-time at the higher level, his quick release and offensive instincts give him the tools to contribute whenever called upon.
Guay enters the 2025–26 season with 141 career ECHL games, already closing in on the 200-game milestone. With a projected workload of up to 72 games, he is on track to finish with 213 appearances, a mark that would solidify his veteran status.
He also carries several offensive milestones within reach. Guay needs just eight more goals to hit 50 and is projected to finish with 63. He sits 19 assists shy of 100, with projections placing him at 122 by season’s end. For points, he requires 27 to reach 150 and could climb as high as 186.
His career averages — 0.30 goals, 0.57 assists, and 0.87 points per game — highlight his consistency as a reliable offensive driver.
