The Reading Royals have announced that they’ve signed defenseman Miles Gendron for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. Gendron, 29, spent last season with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, where he put up four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 60 games. This will be Gendron’s second stint with the Royals after putting up one assist in four games with the team during the 2019-20 season. For Reading, this is their second signing in two days, following the signing of forward Austen Swankler yesterday. Defenseman Vicent Sevigny was also recalled to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms yesterday. If Gendron suits up for Reading this weekend, he will become the ninth defenseman to dress for the team this season.

The former third-round pick of the Ottawa Senators is in his seventh season in the ECHL, as he’s spent time with the Brampton Beast, Newfoundland Growlers, Reading Royals, Utah Grizzlies, and Greenville Swamp Rabbits. In 195 career games, he has 22 goals and 38 assists for 60 points. He’s added seven assists in 17 career Kelly Cup Playoff games. In 16 AHL games with the Belleville Senators and Colorado Eagles, he had two goals and an assist. Gendron has also spent time overseas, playing in 19 games in Norway with Storhamar during the 2022-23 season and 19 games in the EIHL with the Belfast Giants the following year, where he recorded one assist.

Junior and College Career

Prior to going pro, Gendron spent one season in the BCHL with the Penticton Vees. In 54 games with the Vees, he had five goals and 12 assists for 17 points. He would add 12 assists in 24 playoff games as Penticton went on to win the 2015 BCHL Championship. Gendron would then take the NCAA route, playing four seasons at UConn. During his time with the Huskies, he put up 10 goals and 23 assists for 33 points in 126 games.
