The South Carolina Stingrays announced Thursday that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Aaron Chiarot for the 2025–26 season.

Chiarot, 23, joins the Stingrays after beginning his professional career during the 2025–26 campaign with stops in both the ECHL and SPHL. The 6-foot-4, 207-pound defenseman most recently appeared in three games with the Rapid City Rush, adding physicality and size to the blue line while recording five penalty minutes.

Prior to his ECHL action, Chiarot spent time with the Birmingham Bulls of the SPHL, where he recorded three points (1G, 2A) in eight games. That stretch marked his first exposure to the professional ranks, giving him an early opportunity to adjust to the pace and physicality of the game at the next level.

That foundation was built during his collegiate career at the University of Windsor in U SPORTS. Over parts of two seasons with the Lancers, Chiarot appeared in 32 games, finishing with two points and 38 penalty minutes. His role centered on defensive responsibility and net-front presence, traits that have remained consistent as he has moved into the pro game.

Before college, Chiarot developed through a lengthy junior path in Ontario. He logged significant minutes in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) with the Cobourg Cougars, Oakville Blades, Brantford 99ers, and Whitby Fury, often matched against top lines and physical opponents. His most productive junior season came in 2022–23, when he posted 15 points in 42 games with Cobourg. That year also included a postseason run with the Hamilton Kilty B’s of the GOJHL, where he added seven points in 16 playoff games.

Born March 19, 2002, in Hamilton, Ontario, Chiarot shoots left and comes from a hockey family. He is the brother of Ben Chiarot and Josh Chiarot, the cousin of Gabe Chiarot, and the grandson of former professional football player Gordon Chiarot.
