The South Carolina Stingrays continued adding to their 2026-27 roster by signing forward Luka Burzan.

The 26-year-old forward returns to the ECHL after spending the last two seasons playing professionally in Europe.

Returning to North America

Burzan most recently skated for UTE during the 2025-26 season, recording 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points in 30 regular-season games. He also contributed three points in six Erste Liga playoff contests before adding four more points in five Hungarian league playoff games.

The previous season, Burzan split time between HK Dukla Trenčín and the Odense Bulldogs, helping Odense capture the Danish championship while totaling 22 regular-season points and 12 more during the playoffs.

ECHL/AHL Experience

Burzan brings 86 games of ECHL experience to South Carolina. Between the Utah Grizzlies, Fort Wayne Komets, and Cincinnati Cyclones, he has recorded 32 goals and 42 assists for 74 regular-season points. He has also appeared in 20 Kelly Cup Playoff games, adding two goals and four assists.

In addition to his ECHL career, Burzan has appeared in 34 AHL games with the Colorado Eagles and Cleveland Monsters. He was originally selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the sixth round (171st overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft.

Junior Career

Before turning professional, Burzan spent five seasons in the WHL with the Moose Jaw Warriors and Brandon Wheat Kings.

His breakout season came in 2018-19 when he scored 40 goals and 78 points with Brandon. He followed that by recording 35 goals and 62 points while serving as an alternate captain during the 2019-20 campaign.

Burzan also represented Canada internationally, winning a gold medal at the 2017 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and a silver medal with Canada Red at the 2017 World U-17 Hockey Challenge.

Adds Experience to Stingrays Forward Group

Burzan arrives in South Carolina with experience in the ECHL, AHL, and several European leagues. His offensive production and professional experience provide another strong forward option for the Stingrays as they continue assembling their roster for the 2026-27 season.
