The Tahoe Knight Monsters have announced that they’ve signed goaltender Zane McIntyre for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. McIntyre, 33, spent last season in the DEL with the Straubing Tigers, where he went 15-12 with a 2.67 GAA, 889SV%, and two shutouts in 28 games. He went 2-2 in the playoffs with a 2.18 GAA and .893SV% in four games. McIntyle was also named to the Spengler Cup All-Star Team last season.
The Former sixth-round pick of the Boston Bruins in 2010 has spent the majority of his career in the AHL. He’s played in 300 career games; over half of them came with the Providence Bruins, where he posted an 86-43-26 record with a 2.47 GAA, .910 SV%, and 11 shutouts in 155 games. McIntyre also played in eight of his 11 career NHL games with the Boston Bruins. During his time in the AHL, he also played for the Utica Comets, Binghampton Devils, Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Tucson Roadrunners, and Iowa Wild. He has a 153-97-45 record at the AHL level with a 2.61 GAA, .908 SV%, and 19 shutouts. In 2017, he led the league in SV% (.930) and the following year led the league in shutouts (7). McIntry would put up an 8-11 record with a 2.79 GAA and .895SV% in 21 Calder Cup Playoff games.
He also made stops with the Minnesota Wild and Vancover Canucks. McIntyre is still searching for his first career NHL win. He also played in the KHL with Dinamo Riga during the 2020-21 season. In six games in the KHL, he went 0-2 with a 4.65 GAA and .796SV%.
This doesn’t come as a shock after Cameron Whitecloud and Jordan Papirny were both called up to Henderson in the last week. Tahoe also added goaltender Zachary Borgiel earlier this week. I wouldn’t be shocked if McIntyre gets the opportunity to get the bulk of the starts in Tahoe, just because he has a lot of prior experience under his belt. Even if Tahoe gets Whitecloud or Papirny back, I would expect McIntyre to stay on as a depth piece.
