ECHL: The Canadiens renew their agreement with the Trois-Rivières Lions
Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The last few months have been no picnic for the Trois-Rivières Lions.

After all, the club was close to being forced out of business due to mounting debts and the fact that it no longer had an owner…

But then things turned around, especially after Jeff Dickerson stepped forward to buy the club.

The Lions organization held a press conference this afternoon, and Jean-François Houle was present for the event.

What’s this all about?

Assistant General Manager Alex Cousineau announced that the Habs have renewed their affiliation with the Lions in the ECHL.

We’re talking about an agreement valid for the next three seasons:

John Sedgwick was also on hand for the event.

Sedgwick was named general manager of the Laval Rocket last March.

It was also the first visit to Trois-Rivières for the club’s new owner, Jeff Dickerson:

With that out of the way, the Lions will need to focus their energies on the upcoming season.

They need to find a new coach, and we know that the Canadian will have something to say about that.

Ron Choules, the GM, finished last season behind the bench and took the club all the way to the playoffs…

But ultimately, the organization wants to find a guy who can only handle the coaching job.

It makes sense.

Jean-François Houle signed a new contract in Laval, John Sedgwick was named GM of the Rocket, the Habs renewed their agreement with the Lions…

The picture is starting to become clearer.

That brings stability, at least.
