The Utah Grizzlies have claimed defenseman Mathieu Boislard off waivers from the Adirondack Thunder. Boislard, 24, had 39 PIMs in 15 games with the Thunder. Despite being listed as a defenseman, Boislard spent the majority of his time with Adirondack as a forward. Expect Boislard to bring some flexibility and some physicality to the Grizzlies lineup moving forward.

The Fleurimont, Quebec, native is in his second season in the ECHL after putting up one assist in 27 games last season with the Trois-Riviéres Lions. Boislard has spent the majority of his career in the FPHL with the Binghamton Black Bears. In 104 games with the Black Bears, he had seven goals and 31 assists for 38 points. He would have a goal along with 69 PIMS in 14 Playoff games and would be a part of the Black Bears Commissioner’s Cup Championship run in 2024. Boislard has also seen time in the SPHL, where he’s put up a goal and two assists for three points in 31 games with the Fayetteville Marksmen and Knoxville Ice Bears.

Saige Weinstein Called Up To Colorado

The Boislard claim is going to be a huge help to the Grizzlies as defenseman Saige Weinstein was called up to the Colorado Eagels. Weinstein, 20, has two assists in 26 games this season with the Grizzlies. Prior to joining Utah, the Edmonton, Alberta native spent five seasons in the WHL with the Spokane Chiefs. In 249 games, he had 18 goals and 66 assists for 84 points.
