Trois-Rivières Lions defenseman Wyatt McLeod is heading overseas to Slovakia to join HK Poprad after spending parts of his first two seasons in the ECHL with the Lions. McLeod, 26, had two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 40 games this season with Trois-Rivières. He had a goal and 22 assists for 23 points in 65 games last season, while adding a goal and eight assists for nine points in 21 Kelly Cup Playoff games. McLeod also put up two goals and two assists for four points in 15 games with the Utah Grizzlies during the 2020-21 season, while also seeing action in three Kelly Cup Playoff games. He is the third player from the Lions to leave the team for other opportunities since the season began.

Prior to going pro, the Dawson Creek, British Columbia, native spent five seasons in the WHL with the Edmonton Oil Kings and Saskatoon Blades. During his four years with the Oil Kings, he had nine goals and 45 assists for 54 points in 202 games. McLeod also wore an “A” during his final two seasons with the Oil Kings. He would add four goals and three assists for seven points in 16 playoff games with Edmonton. McLeod would finish his junior career in USports, where he played three seasons at the University of Alberta. In 61 games with the Golden Bears, he had four goals and 33 assists for 37 points. He added two goals and six assists for eight points in 18 USports Playoff games and won a USports (West) Championship in 2022.
