Goaltender Zane McIntyre is heading overseas to Norway to join the Stravanger Oilers. McIntyre, 33, signed with the Tahoe Knight Monsters earlier this season and put up a 2-3 record with a 2.64 GAA and .921SV% in five games. He also spent last season overseas, playing in the DEL with the Straubing Tigers. In 28 games, he went 15-12 with a 2.67 GAA, .889SV%, and two shutouts. McIntyre led all goalies with four games played during last year’s Spengler Cup, where he went 2-2 with a 4.10 GAA and .874SV%. He would go 2-2 in the playoffs with a 2.18 GAA and .893SV%. His other overseas stint came during the 2020-21 season when he played in the KHL. In six games with Dinamo Riga, he went 0-2 with a 4.65 GAA and .796SV%. McIntyre is the first Knight Monster to take the overseas route since the season began.
The Grand Forks, North Dakota, native has spent the majority of his career in the AHL, where he’s played for the Providence Bruins, Utica Comets, Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Tucson Roadrunners, and Iowa Wild. He would lead the AHL in SV% during the 2016-17 season (.930) and led the league in shutouts the following season (7). In 300 career games, he’s put up a 153-97-45 record with a 2.61 GAA, .908SV%, and 19 shutouts. He played 21 games in the Calder Cup Playoffs, going 8-11 with a 2.79 GAA and a .895 SV%. McIntyre has played in eight NHL games with the Boston Bruins, who drafted him in the sixth round in 2020. During his short stint with the Bruins, he went 0-4-1 with a 3.97 GAA and .858SV%.
