They address that by acquiring defenseman Spencer Stastney from the Nashville Predators. The Oilers are sending a 2027 third-round pick to the Predators for Stastney. Stastney this season in 30 games has nine points, on a goal and eight assists. He’s a minus-one with 25 blocked shots and five total hits.

The Predators drafted Stastney 131st overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut on April 1, 2023. He recorded his first point on April 6, 2023, with an assist in a 3-0 win. The assist came on a Mark Jankowski goal. He scored his first goal on November 24, 2023, in an 8-3 win over the Blues. He’s spent four seasons with the Predators, playing in 81 games, recording 18 points on three goals and 15 assists. He is a plus-six with a game-winning goal, 87 blocked shots, and 17 total hits. In three playoff games, he hasn’t recorded a point and is a plus-one. In four seasons with the Predators AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals, he played in 128 games, recording 50 points on 13 goals and 37 assists. He was a +35 with a power-play goal, a shorthanded goal, and four game-winning goals.
