Edmonton Oilers' Evander Kane to undergo hernia surgery

Edmonton Oilers Evander Kane is slated to have hernia surgery due to a lingering injury in the next ten days. He is likely to miss 4-6 weeks.

In the middle of August , it was reported that Edmonton Oilers star Evander Kane could need surgery to repair a sports hernia that he had been playing with for most, if not all, of last season's Stanley Cup final. Today news has dropped that he will require surgery to repair it with a return that's to be determined.

Sportsnet's Mark Spectator reports that the 33-year-old Oilers left winger is slated to undergo surgery in the next ten days, and while hernia surgery can be serious, Kane may be able to return to some sort of workouts within four to six weeks post-op.

Kane, who has been a member of the Oilers since the 20212-2022 season, skated in 77 games during the regular season contributing 24 goals along with 20 assists. The postseason saw him participate in 20 games where he had 4 goals and four assists.

While the Oilers may miss Kane, it's better that he gets the surgery done and over with now so he can be healthy for the majority of the regular season and postseason. Although there were rumblings that Kane and the Oilers may have been heading for a messy divorce during the summer, it seems like both sides are primed and ready to build on last season.
