Edmonton Oilers Insider Links Two Young Goalies as Possible Targets

The Edmonton Oilers are looking to make some type of change in net, and now a top Insider has linked them to Michael DiPietro and Nico Daws as waiver options.

For much of the off-season thus far, all of the talk in Edmonton has been around their goaltending, and while it's becoming clear that the team don't have interest in trading Stuart Skinner, adding other goaltenders hasn't been ruled out.

That's why Bob Stauffer recently noted that the Oilers had some interest in Arturs Silovs before he was traded to Pittsburgh, with the team looking to add significant competition into the goaltending room ahead of training camp.

Now, Stauffer has also linked the team to two other young goaltenders in Michael DiPietro and Nico Daws, both of whom could be waived in the near future as they struggle to find significant roles on their own teams.

At 26 and 24 years of age respectively, both DiPietro and Daws represent young goaltenders that could play roles in the future of the Oilers while pushing for a spot on the roster right now, although thus far, the team have shown faith in Calvin Pickard as someone that can do a job for Edmonton in the biggest moments.

Despite his relative success in the post-season, the Oilers are likely looking to make some type of change, and if that means bringing in a new backup to push Skinner, that's what they'll do if it means a better shot at the Stanley Cup, so while no move is imminent, don't be surprised to see the team make a push for either DiPietro or Daws should they be waived by their current teams.
