A change of scenery is coming for Oilers legend and fan-favorite Pat Maroon, as he announced he will be joining broadcasting with the NHL on TNT crew.

Some players just can't resist the game of hockey. After retirement, most NHL players stay involved in hockey in some way, whether it be through coaching, management, or broadcasting.

Edmonton Oilers' fans know this well. Wayne Gretzky became a head coach, Kevin Lowe was general manager, and Paul Coffey is now behind the bench with Kris Knoblauch's crew.

Now, former Oiler winger and fan-favorite Pat Maroon is following Oilers legend Mark Messier, right into the broadcast booth.

On Wednesday, the NHL on TNT broadcast crew indicated that it will have some guest analysts next week.

Rick Tocchet will join Fridays and Saturdays, and Maroon on Mondays

Former Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet will be on for Friday and Saturday's action, and Maroon will join Monday's panel and continue to be featured every Monday throughout the remainder of the playoffs.

Given Maroon's friendly personality and background in the media, this transfer is not surprising.

Monday's game includes two of the big matchups: Game 4 of Hurricanes vs. Capitals and Game 4 of the Oilers and Golden Knights, a very fitting premiere, given Maroon's history with Edmonton.

Maroon recently announced his retirement from pro hockey after a long and gritty career. He played 848 games in the NHL, accumulating 323 points and 1,087 penalty minutes.

His best scoring season was in 2016-17 with the Oilers, when he had 27 goals and 42 points on a nearly 17-minute per-game ice-time average. Now, Maroon's new journey starts, staying close to the game he loves.
