The Edmonton Oilers have lost both Corey Perry and Connor Brown in free agency, as both players have been signed by two different organizations.
Former Edmonton Oiler Connor Brown is off to the New Jersey Devils. The speedy winger signed a four-year, $12-million deal with the Devils on Tuesday, which was first reported by Sportsnet's Gene Principe.
Brown played in all of his team's 82 games last season, scoring 13 goals and adding 17 assists before adding five more goals and four assists during the Oilers' Stanley Cup playoff run.
The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Brown in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL draft. Between Toronto, Edmonton, Ottawa, and Washington, the 31-year-old recorded 107 goals and 151 assists in just over 600 games.
Brown also has 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in 59 postseason games and has reached the Cup Final in each of the past two seasons.
Corey Perry has signed with the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, as reported by TSN's Bob McKenzie and Chris Johnston.
The 40-year-old Perry played in 81 regular-season games for the Edmonton Oilers last season, scoring 19 goals and adding 11 assists, for 30 points, before once again losing in the Stanley Cup Finals.
During Edmonton's Cup Final run, Perry scored 10 goals, which was his most since the 2015 playoffs.
However, lifting Lord Stanley has eluded him since he first hoisted the Cup back in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks. He has since lost in the Final in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025, all in heartbreaking fashion.
Among active players, the veteran forward ranks fifth in games played with 1,392, seventh in goals with 448, and fifth in playoff goals with 64.
He now joins a Los Angeles team that he recently helped eliminate in the first round of the playoffs, which he also did last year as a member of the Oilers.
