Trevor Zegras' name has been on the trade block for the past 18 months, and now the NHL's top insider has revealed he's drawing attention once again as the Ducks look to continue shaking up their lineup.
The Anaheim Ducks have already made a big trade this summer, landing veteran star Chris Kreider from the New York Rangers to add some grit and leadership to this young, talented forward group.
Now, more moves could be coming, as Elliotte Friedman has now revealed that the Ducks are having what he defined as 'significant discussions' over potentially trading the young forward.
At 24-years of age, Zegras burst onto the scene in the NHL, but with injury woes and inconsistencies in recent years, it's safe to say that the trajectory of his career in Anaheim isn't going the way that anyone would have expected.
Over the past two years, Zegras has played in just 88 combined games, tallying 18 goals and 47 points in that time, and after scoring 60+ in both of his first two seasons at the NHL, the regression has certainly been tough to watch.
In the time of his struggles, both Leo Carlsson and Mason McTavish have stepped up as the Ducks clear top two centres of the future, and with the team looking to improve, there's a chance they could move him for a veteran option at some point this off-season.
While his name has been out there for quite some time, Freidman reveals that a trade of Zegras could happen as early as this week, and with potential future assets or a proven veteran coming back in a deal, this should be something that Anaheim will pursue aggressively.
