Ethan Belchetz Commits to Michigan State

This morning, reports are that Ethan Belchetz is committing to Michigan State University. Belchetz is the 13th-ranked prospect heading into the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the last season in the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires. The 18-year-old forward had 59 points this season in 57 games on 34 goals and 25 assists. He was a +19 with ten power-play goals and seven game-winning goals. He finished tied for 38th in the OHL in points, tied for 12th in goals, and tied for 16th in power-play goals. In most mock drafts, he’s been linked to the Columbus Blue Jackets with the 14th pick, with some others having him linked to the St. Louis Blues at the 11th pick. Either way, whoever takes him in the June draft, he will be playing the 2026-27 season with the Spartans.

Belchetz, in his first season with Windsor, appeared in 56 games, recording 38 points on 17 goals and 21 assists. He was a minus-three with four power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, and two game-winning goals. He also appeared in five games with Canada’s U17 team, where in five games he had five points on four goals and an assist. Before Windsor, he spent three seasons with the Oakville Rangers, appearing in a combined 105 games across different levels, recording 185 points on 99 goals and 86 assists. He then played in one game for the Hamilton Kilty B’s in the GOJHL, where he scored a goal that was in 2023-24 before joining the OHL.
