According to Kevin Weekes , Evander Kane is likely to be traded by the Vancouver Canucks. One of the many members of the team the Canucks are taking trade calls on, Kane is a player most expect to be moved ahead of the trade deadline. Weekes posted on X, “Per multiple sources, I’m told the @DallasStars and @Avalanche are among the likely destinations for @Canucks F Kane via potential trade.”
In fairness, Weekes did not say that a trade was on the verge of being dealt or that a deal was imminent between the Canucks and one of these two teams. But it does sound like a trade could be right around the corner. It might get done prior to the Olympic roster freeze.

Kane had a slower start to the season, but he’s coming on as the season rolls along. He’s had a good two weeks, but more importantly for contenders, he’s a player with a proven playoff resume. He led the Oilers in playoff scoring the season he was signed there, and, when healthy, he’s been a valuable part of a couple of playoff runs.
If a team like Dallas or Colorado is interested and it doesn’t cost more than a late-round pick to acquire him, he could be a home run addition.
Kane is a pending UFA. Whatever team trades for him is grabbing a pure rental with a playoff past. They’ll be hoping to catch lightning in a bottle and that Kane will be a nice top-nine addition to an already strong forward group.
As expected, the two different fan bases in Colorado and Dallas have had differing takes on the Weekes report. Not everyone is a fan, while some like the edge and intensity that Kane would bring.
