Fitze Scores Twice, Grizzlies Skate Past Norfolk
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Despite being outshot 30-28, the Utah Grizzlies scored twice in the first and second periods before adding another in the third to skate past the visiting Norfolk Admirals 5-2 on Sunday evening.

Dylan Fitze opened the scoring with his first of two goals in the game. Tyler Penner dished the puck to Fitze along the left-wing wall, who skated on a partial breakaway before ripping a shot into the back of the net.

Brandon Culter made it a two-goal advantage for Utah approximately five minutes later, burying a cross-ice pass from Brett Stapley.

Norfolk closed the gap less than one minute later with a goal from Stepan Timofeyev and tied the game on Thomas Caron’s sixth of the year early into the second period.

Cole Gallant potted the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal at the 10:55 mark of the second period. Luke Manning found his teammate on the partial breakaway, and Gallant managed to get the shot off despite falling down.

Just 36 seconds later, Fitze added his second of the night, redirecting Penner’s shot off the body and into the back of the Norfolk net.

Adam Berg put the game on ice with under five minutes left in regulation after Stapley’s backhanded centering feed deflected off his skate and into the net.

Utah netminder Will Cranley collected his seventh win of the season, sixth with the Grizzlies, making 28 saves on 30 shots.

After an improbable comeback on Saturday night followed by Sunday’s win, the Grizzlies will look to take all three games against Norfolk, with the series wrapping up on Monday. Puck drop is set for 7:10 p.m. MT.
