Before the Nashville Predators headed out of the locker room for their extended break after All Star weekend, I caught up with forward Tommy Novak to ask him five quick questions.
"Streaky probably," Novak said.
Novak missed 11 games in November and December due to an upper body injury. Prior to that, Novak had collected 6 goals and twelve points in his first 14 games of the season. Getting back to his game has taken Novak some time.
"I feel like there's been spurts of good play and some spurts of trouble finishing, but that's kind of the way it foes I guess.," Novak said.
"Hopefully I'll get hot soon."
"Nap. Usually nap."
"I actually think about this sometimes," Novak said. "I wish that you weren't allowed to box out in front of the net. I wish there was just like an interference penalty."
"I don't know, I might get some heat for saying that. That's kind of a soft player thing to say," Novak laughed.
"But yeah, I think that'd be interesting. It'd be a lot different, but I think that'd be interesting."
"Watch a show," Novak said.
And he's a binge watcher.
"I don't watch a whole lot but once I get hooked on something I watch it constantly."
"I play video games a lot too with my friends back home," Novak added.
"Honestly, going back to high school hockey and playing in the start tournament there," Novak said.
"At the Xcel [Xcel Energy Center] just with my high school friends and winning the championship there."
"Obviously playing in the NHL, first NHL game, stuff like that, but I think that one is something I think back on. It's probably my fondest memory."
