Gang, the summer is starting to wind down and before we know it, the Calgary Flames will be kicking off the 2025-26 hockey marathon with their annual prospects training camp.
Many of the Flames’ best and brightest young prospects are going to be appearing at prospects camp and playing in whatever games are included in that week. (The current expectation is that the Flames will have some games that week as a replacement for the Penticton Young Stars tournament, but they have yet to be officially announced. We’re assuming it’ll be similar to past non-Penticton years where they have a pair of games, probably against Edmonton.)
Typically, the players who were at development camp are also the ones that participate in the fall prospects camp. But with things just around the corner, we felt it was prudent to mention the prospects you probably shouldn’t expect to see in a Flames jersey this coming fall.

The 10 college prospects are:
You could put together a pretty decent lineup just with the college-bound prospects. For those following along, three of the top 10 prospects in our recent summer rankings are playing in the NCAA in 2025-26.
Remember our comment about maintaining eligibility? Well, 2025 third-rounder Mace’o Phillips will be attending the University of Minnesota in the fall of 2026. Right now, he’s headed to the United States Hockey League to play with the Green Bay Gamblers.
Between the potential for attending a pro camp to muck around with college eligibility and just getting his junior season going, Phillips isn’t expected to be at Flames camp. The Gamblers begin their regular season on Sept. 18 against Omaha, as part of the USHL’s annual Fall Classic, which features all 16 teams playing in one location on opening weekend – this year’s event is being hosted at the Pittsburgh Penguins’ practice facility.
Finally, the Flames have five players on European club teams that will be starting their regular seasons right around prospects camp, and thus won’t be able to attend:
Which prospect are you most disappointed we won’t get to see in training camp?
