The Philadelphia Flyers have made an early offseason roster move following their second-round playoff exit, less than a week after their season came to an abrupt end.
Philadelphia’s season ended with a four-game sweep by the Carolina Hurricanes, capped by a 3-2 overtime loss in Game 4. In sweeping the Flyers, the Hurricanes advanced to the Eastern Conference Final with an 8-0 postseason record.
Hurricanes forward Jackson Blake scored the series-clinching goal in overtime, finishing the game with two goals and an assist. Philadelphia, meanwhile, received goals from Tyson Foerster and Alex Bump, while Dan Vladar made 37 saves in the loss.
“I think it was tighter than a 4-0 series,” Flyers captain Sean Couturier said. “If we get a couple bounces our way at key moments, we maybe pull out a win or two.”
Following the postseason elimination, with Vladar appearing in net for all 10 games while allowing 23 goals on 271 shots faced, the Flyers announced a contract extension for fellow goaltender and prospect Aleksei Kolosov.
“The Philadelphia Flyers have re-signed goaltender Aleksei Kolosov to a one-year contract extension with an average annual value (AAV) of $850,000,” the Flyers announced on Friday.
Kolosov, 24, spent most of the 2025-26 season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League, appearing in only four NHL games.
The Belarusian netminder posted a 15-21-2 record in the AHL, along with a 2.98 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage across 38 games, logging two shutouts.

Kolosov has appeared in 21 NHL games with Philadelphia throughout his career. He holds a 5-11-1 record at the NHL level, as well as a 3.64 GAA and a .863 SV%.
The Flyers drafted Kolosov with the No. 78 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, and the netminder spent four seasons with Dinamo Minsk in the Kontinental Hockey League before transitioning to North America and making his NHL debut in the 2024-25 season.
The extension keeps Kolosov in the organization after the expiration of his entry-level contract, with Philadelphia currently having two netminders—Vladar and Kolosov—under contract heading into the 2026-27 season, with Samuel Ersson set to become a free agent on July 1.
