The Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders meet again with both teams coming in from very different emotional places. New York has been steady for most of the season, but its last outing was a tough one as they suffered a 5-0 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
Philadelphia, meanwhile, arrives with confidence after what might have been its best performance of the season. The Flyers stunned the league-leading Colorado Avalanche with a 7-3 win on Friday, a game that showed what they can look like when everything clicks.

Notably, this will be the third time these two teams will be facing each other. In their last two encounters, Flyers took 4-3 shootout wins.
Offensively, New York leans heavily on Mathew Barzal, who has 41 points on the season with 11 goals and 30 assists. Matthew Schaefer has also been important, contributing 34 points in 51 games and providing secondary scoring that New York relies on in close games.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia comes in with a 24-17-9 record and sits just behind the Islanders in fourth place in the division with 57 points. While the Flyers are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games, the win in Colorado may have shifted the mood.
Travis Konecny continues to be the engine of the Flyers’ offense. He enters the game on a four-game point streak and leads the team with 28 assists. Trevor Zegras has also been productive lately, picking up four points over his last four games.
In goal, however, Philadelphia will need to adjust without Dan Vladar, who was placed on injured reserve last week. Vladar had been solid this season with a 2.46 goals-against average before his injury.
Samuel Ersson, who has an 8-8-5 record, with 3.36 GAA and .862 SV%, will most likely start the game on Monday.
