Former Fourth Overall Pick Bowen Byram Linked to One Specific Canadian Team

Bowen Byram's future appears to be beyond the Buffalo Sabres, and despite plenty of interest, he has seemingly been linked to Toronto in recent days.

While free agency is drawing plenty of intrigue this summer, it's the trade market that could shake the NHL up the most during the off-season, with many top young names reportedly available for trade.

Perhaps the most intriguing of those names is young Buffalo Sabres defenseman Bowen Byram, and with the 24-year old seeking a new contract this off-season, it's likely that he gets moved for a haul and inks an extension elsewhere, with the team gauging interest on the market for him.

Every team from Pittsburgh to Calgary to Vancouver have been linked to the former Colorado Avalanche this summer, but now, a new Canadian team has emerged as a potential suitor for him.

According to The Leafs Nation, Byram is a player the team could be pursuing in the summer as they look to add an offensive weapon to their blue line, and after a career high of 38 points this past season, optimism is high that he can continue on an upwards trajectory.

Unsurprisingly, Morgan Rielly appears to be the key piece heading back to Buffalo in this projected trade by TLN, with suggestions that they could add a sweetener like a 2027 third-round pick to get a deal done.

Obviously, that would be nowhere near enough for the Maple Leafs to acquire Byram, as he has shown immense skill and potential thus far in his NHL career, and while a new contract could be a big number for the team acquiring him, if Toronto are willing to give up real assets to get a deal done, it would be a solid fit.
