With much of their heavy lifting done this offseason already, the Vegas Golden Knights have the luxury of being able to spend this free agency period focusing more on depth.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and Irfaan Gaffar, the Golden Knights are bringing back defenseman Dylan Coghlan on a one-year deal worth the veteran minimum of $775,000.

Coghlan signed with the Golden Knights as an undrafted free agent in 2017, making his debut with Vegas during the 2020-21 season. He is most known for his hat trick against the Minnesota Wild, where he scored the first three goals of his NHL career.
Coghlan has since spent time with the Carolina Hurricanes and Winnipeg Jets, scoring six goals and 22 points in 112 career NHL games.
Now back with the Golden Knights, Coghlan will likely be competing with Kaedan Korczak for a spot on the third defensive pairing. A wrench could be thrown if rumors of the Golden Knights pursuing Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson continue to pick up steam, but that is where the situation stands for now.
