It's been a tough time for the hockey world in 2025 following the passing of former NHLer Claude Verret and former first-round pick Miika Elomo.
Unfortunately, we have some more sad news to share on Monday as another former NHLer has passed away over the weekend.
According to Czech media outlet Sport.cz, former National Hockey League defenseman Tomas Kloucek has passed away at the age of 45 following a skiing accident over the weekend.
Sport.cz is reporting that Kloucek was skiing in the town of Spindleruv Mlyn when he crashed into an electricity pole, with a helicopter and the mountain rescue service coming to his aid, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.

Tributes have been pouring in from around the hockey world following Kloucek's passing, including from one of his former teams in Czechia, HC Ocelari Trinec
' We are saddened by the news that Tomas Kloucek has died after a tragic accident. The sharp defender played a total of 90 matches for Ocelar. We wish his family and loved ones a lot of strength. Our sincere condolences ' HC Ocelari Trinec said in a post on X.
The Prague native was selected in the fifth round, 131st overall by the New York Rangers in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and went on to play 141 games in the league with them, the Nashville Predators and Atlanta Thrashers, registering ten points (two goals, eight assists), 250 penalty minutes and was a minus-nine.
