Former Teammate Wishes Sidney Crosby Left Penguins
USA TODAY Sports

PITTSBURGH – A lot of noise may surround the idea, and with the team getting worse, more people may call for it, but Sidney Crosby will never leave the Pittsburgh Penguins. That won’t stop analysts and insiders from wishing for a change of scenery for the Penguins captain.

Following the Penguins' brutal loss to the Edmonton Oilers, a former teammate of Crosby’s went to Twitter to voice his opinion. Now an analyst on TNT, Paul Bissonnette, said he’d much rather see Crosby play with a team like the Colorado Avalanche.

“Crosby is Colorado would blow our brains,” Bissonnette tweeted. “If I had a Genie in a bottle and got 3 wishes that would be one of my wishes no lie.”

A popular destination for the unlikely Crosby departure has always been the Avalanche thanks to his friendship with Nathan MacKinnon. Over the past few seasons, MacKinnon has proved to be one of the best players in the NHL and those two putting together a nice chemistry would make them one of the fiercest teams around.

Bissonnette played 15 games with the Penguins during the 2008-09 season before spending the rest of his career with the Phoenix Coyotes. Ever since his retirement from hockey, he’s always made sure to consider the Penguins as one of his go-to teams, and has always been a fan of Crosby’s.

It’s that sort of passion that has driven Bissonnette to want to see better for Crosby. Bissonnette noted that an earlier loss to the Calgary Flames was the end of the road for the Penguins and a waste of another fantastic season from Crosby.

“The Calgary loss was the nail in the coffin the Penguins are cooked,” Bissonnette tweeted. “This is sad. Sid will miss playoffs for back to back years for the first time in his career having the best season a 36 year olds ever had.”

Crosby has been putting up outstanding numbers all season in did everything he could be carry the Penguins into the postseason. If the Penguins were able to reach the playoffs, there could be real MVP discussion for Crosby. In 59 games he’s scored 32 goals and 31 assists for 63 total points.
