Four bets for NHL Wednesday night

Let's right the ship in the NHL market. There's some nice looking spots tonight. We're keeping it tight here, with just four bets on the ice.

Patrik Laine over 3.5 SOG (-106 FD)

Patrik Laine is a guy I was most excited to bet on this season with him skating alongside an elite creator in Johnny Gaudreau. Injuries have kept me from feeling confident in the Columbus configuration and chemistry to look his way much, but I think we've crossed the threshold in that department.

Laine returned to the lineup on Dec. 2 and has played three times since then. In his past two games, Laine has piled up 13 SOG on 22 attempts. That volume sure is lovely to see, and against a team like Buffalo who allows 34.7 shots per game on the road, I'm excited to look Laine's way this evening.

The top-line forward for the Blue Jackets has enjoyed steady success when skating on home ice, going over 3.5 in four of his five home games this season. Love this price and spot for Laine on national television, and consider looking his way for a goal as well!

Charlie McAvoy assist (+106 FD)

I like Boston to net at least three tonight against Colorado. They did after all beat them 5-1 on Saturday. There's reason to believe the Bruins cruise here, as Nathan MacKinnon is now injured, joining what is an elite IR list for Colorado.

The Avs are going to have some difficulties for a while it seems, and with a massive power-play edge favoring Boston, I'd like a piece of this game.

Defensemen Charlie McAvoy's assist stands out. He had two apples on Saturday and now has two assists in three straight games against Colorado.

He's registered 11 assists in his last nine games and has been heavily involved on the Bruins' power play since his return from injury. I prefer this play to his point at -130.

Vancouver-San Jose over 6.5 (-120 DK)

This read is relatively simple. Both teams have vulnerable goalies, and both offenses have shown an ability to notch 3+ goals at a relatively consistent level.

The total has gone over 6.5 in four of the last five meetings between these two, and home/road total splits suggest this is a great play tonight. The over is 8-1-1 in San Jose's last ten at home, and in Vancouver's last ten on the road, the over is 8-2.

John Carlson & Erik Karlsson over 2.5 SOG (+147 DK)

I know last night's defensemen parlay didn't come through, but I think we're in good hands here with two guys with the same phonetic last name. That's just science.

Both John Carlson and Erik Karlsson are facing a team inside the top 10 of most shots allowed to defensemen, and each brings tremendous volume to the table.

Carlson is over 2.5 shots in 16 of 21 this season and 11 of 13 on the road. He had 7 SOG against Philly on 11/23. Karlsson has gone for 3+ shots in 15 of his last 21 games, 10 of his past 11 at home and three straight against the Canucks.
