The Edmonton Oilers returned from their break with a huge win over the Carolina Hurricanes to extend their season-long winning streak to five games. Below are the highlights from the game.
The Oilers opened the scoring just 28 seconds into the game. Warren Foegele won a battle behind Carolina’s net and the puck out front for Ryan McLeod who banged home his second of the season.

As the first goal was being announced, the Oilers extended their lead to 2-0. Edmonton won a faceoff in Carolina’s zone, Evan Bouchard sent the puck in for Connor McDavid, and he found Mattias Ekholm, who activated from the blueline and crashed the crease.

Zach Hyman put the Oilers up 3-0 just over five minutes into the first period. Evan Bouchard did some nice work to keep the puck in Carolina’s zone at the blueline before getting it in deep and then Hyman dragged it out front and buried it.

The Oilers added one more goal before the end of the first period to make the score 4-0. Hyman completed a nice passing play with a one-timer for his second of the game and 14th of the season.

Early in the second period, Warren Foegele scored a goal against his former team to put the Oilers up by a score of 5-0. Mattias Janmark blocked a shot in Edmonton’s zone and Foegele rushed up ice on a breakaway and made no mistake.

The Hurricanes got on the board and broke up Stuart Skinner’s shutout bid just over seven minutes into the third period. Three Hurricanes came up ice after a turnover in Carolina’s zone and Jordan Staal fired a pass from Jaccob Slavin into a wide-open net.

The Oilers got that goal back a few minutes later. Connor McDavid stole the puck just inside Carolina’s blueline, slipped through two Hurricanes defenders, and found Zach Hyman all alone at the side of the net. Hyman roofed a shot to complete the hat trick and put the Oilers up by a score of 6-1.
