Gary Bettman's Retirement: Former NHL Star Named as Potential Replacement

In short, you can guess that names are already circulating as potential replacements for Bettman at the helm of the NHL.

Renaud Lavoie mentions Steve Yzerman's name

Earlier this week, on BPM Sports, TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie indeed brought up a very interesting name in the conversation.

"Renaud Lavoie brought up a name in the conversation that contrasts with Gary Bettman: Steve Yzerman.

He didn't say that it was one of the favorites; he simply suggested his name.

But between you and me, when a well-connected guy like him brings up a name.. it's not always by chance."

Of course, when thinking about possible replacements for Bettman, there will inevitably be his current right-hand man, Bill Daly, but there will also be other names, such as Yzerman's. (which is quite interesting)

Renaud mentions that Yzerman is highly respected in the NHL, and in addition, the fact that he is Canadian could really help revive hockey in Canada.

We're really looking forward to following developments in this matter, but it will likely be more of a 'medium-term' affair rather than a short-term one.
