The Vegas Golden Knights have dropped the first two games of their postseason series with the Edmonton Oilers on home ice. Vegas now will be facing the reality of heading out on the road down 0-2 in the series.
The Golden Knights have had leads in both games, but the comeback kings in the Oilers have struck gold. The offense from Vegas has been good, but the goaltending and defense have been lacking.
Despite the Golden Knights having a much more experienced player in the net, the Oilers have been able to take advantage. After Game 2, Vegas head coach Bruce Cassidy discussed the play of goalie Adin Hill.
“There are positions and areas of the game that you gotta outplay them,” coach Bruce Cassidy said bluntly. “He’s going to have to do that at some point. That’s just the make-up of any series, usually.”
Hill has been a little shaky to start the series, and if Vegas is going to make a comeback, they are going to need him. The goalie was crucial in the Golden Knights' run to the Stanley Cup a few years back, but he hasn't been able to figure out the explosive offensive attack of the Oilers so far.
Even with the struggles from Hill, the Golden Knights have been in both games. If the goalie can clean things up a little heading into Game 3, Vegas could have a chance to get back in the series.
It won't be easy, but the Golden Knights were one of the better teams in the Western Conference this season. Game 3 will tell a lot about this Vegas squad, and they are going to need a full team effort to grab a win on the road.
