It turns out Reilly Smith’s second stint in Vegas will go on for a little longer.
According to Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston, the Vegas Golden Knights are re-signing forward Reilly Smith to a one-year, $2 million contract.

Smith began the season with the New York Rangers until he was traded to the Golden Knights in exchange for forward Brendan Brisson and a 2025 third-round pick at the deadline. He scored 13 goals and 40 points across 79 games last season.
It is definitely a team-friendly deal, as Smith has been vocal about wanting to remain with the Golden Knights.
Smith became an important part of the fabric of the Golden Knights from the first season in 2017. As part of the Misfits line with Jonathan Marchessault and William Karlsson, Smith posted three 20-goal seasons with Vegas during his first stint. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins after the Stanley Cup run in 2023 to save money for Ivan Barbashev and Adin Hill, but Smith seemed to always want to return to Vegas at some point.
With Smith locked in for next season, that is one less issue the Golden Knights have to worry about.
