How did the rest of the departed Flames perform elsewhere in 2024-25?

Man, there were a lot of former members of the Calgary Flames playing throughout the National Hockey League in 2024-25.

We’ve discussed the players that departed the Flames during the 2024-25 season. We’ve discussed the Flames that were part of their many roster changes during the tumultuous 2023-24 period. Now, let’s look at everyone else.

Here’s how the remaining former Flames players fared this season.

Trevor Lewis, Los Angeles Kings

Lewis signed with the Kings as a free agent during the 2023 off-season after a few seasons with the Flames. This season he played 60 games with the Kings and posted six goals and 12 points.

Troy Stecher, Edmonton Oilers

Stecher signed with Arizona as a free agent during the 2023 off-season after a short stint with the Flames. He spent this season with Edmonton, posting three goals and seven points over 66 games. He remains active in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Connor Mackey, New York Rangers

Mackey was traded to Arizona (in the same trade that brought Stecher to town) at the 2023 trade deadline. He spent this season in the New York Rangers organization, primarily with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. He played two games with the Rangers, though, and had zero points.

Juuso Valimaki, Utah Hockey Club

The Flames’ 2017 first-round pick, Valimaki was claimed off waivers by the Coyotes prior to the start of the 2022-23 season. He spent this season with the Utah Hockey Club and had two goals and five points across 43 games.

Sean Monahan, Columbus Blue Jackets

A first-rounder in 2013, Monahan was traded to Montreal in August 2022 in a weird trade with many, many conditions. He spent this season with Columbus and had 19 goals and 57 points through 54 games.

Matthew Tkachuk, Florida Panthers

A first-rounder in 2016, Tkachuk was traded to Florida in July 2022. He had 22 goals and 57 points through 52 games this season. He remains active in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Calle Jarnkrok, Toronto Maple Leafs

Jarnkrok signed with the Leafs as a free agent in the 2022 off-season after a brief stint with the Flames. He had one goal and seven points in 19 games with the Leafs this season. He remains active in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Erik Gudbranson, Columbus Blue Jackets

Gudbranson signed with Columbus as a free agent in the 2022 off-season. He had zero goals and four points in 16 games this season. (He had a rough go due to injuries.)

Louis Domingue, New York Rangers

Domingue signed with Pittsburgh as a free agent in July 2021 after a brief stint with the Flames. He spent this season in the Rangers system, primarily in the AHL. He played one game for the Rangers and picked up the win.

Derek Ryan, Edmonton Oilers

Ryan signed with Edmonton in July 2021. He split this season between the Oilers and AHL Bakersfield, playing 36 games in the NHL and posting a goal and six points. He remains active in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Sam Bennett, Florida Panthers

Bennett was traded to Florida prior to the April 2021 trade deadline. He had 25 goals and 51 points through 76 games this season. He remains active in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

David Rittich, Los Angeles Kings

Rittich was traded to Toronto prior to the April 2021 trade deadline. Now with the Kings, he played 34 games (working as Darcy Kuemper’s backup) and had a 16-14-2 record with a 2.84 goals against average and .887 save percentage.

Travis Hamonic, Ottawa Senators

Hamonic signed with the Canucks in January 2021. Now with Ottawa, he had a goal and seven points in 59 games.

Derek Forbort, Vancouver Canucks

Forbort signed with Winnipeg in the 2020 off-season after a brief stint with the Flames. He later joined the Canucks, and had two goals and 11 points in 54 games this season.

Cam Talbot, Detroit Red Wings

Talbot signed with the Wild in the 2020 off-season. Now with Detroit, he played 47 games and went 21-19-5 with a 2.93 goals against average and .901 save percentage.

Mark Jankowski, Nashville Predators/Carolina Hurricanes

A first-rounder in 2012, Jankowski left the Flames as a free agent in the 2020 off-season, signing with Pittsburgh. He split this season between Nashville and Carolina, where he combined for 12 goals and 17 points through 60 games. He remains active in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

TJ Brodie, Chicago Blackhawks

After a lengthy run with the Flames, Brodie signed with Toronto during the 2020 off-season. He’s since joined the Blackhawks, where he had two goals and 10 points through 54 games this season.

Curtis Lazar, New Jersey Devils

Lazar signed with the Sabres as a free agent during the 2019 off-season. Now in New Jersey, he had two goals and five assists in 48 games.

Garnet Hathaway, Philadelphia Flyers

Hathaway left the Flames as a free agent during the 2019 off-season, signing in Washington. Now with the Flyers, he had 10 goals and 21 points in 67 games.

Brett Kulak, Edmonton Oilers

Kulak was traded to Montreal prior to the start of the 2018-19 season. Now with Edmonton, he had seven goals and 25 points in 82 games this season. He remains active in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Dougie Hamilton, New Jersey Devils

Hamilton was traded to Carolina prior to the 2018 NHL Draft.  Now with New Jersey, he had nine goals and 40 points in 64 games.
