Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal reveals team’s mindset before Stanley Cup Final

Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal has shared how the team is feeling ahead of the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Hurricanes will begin their Stanley Cup Final campaign when they host Vegas in Game 1 on Tuesday night in Raleigh.

Speaking before the series, Staal was asked about the confidence within the Carolina dressing room after the team’s run to the Final.

Staal said: “We just have that belief that if we are on our game, and playing the way we need to, we’re going to have a great chance to win the game.”

The veteran centre is preparing to lead Carolina into the Stanley Cup Final as the franchise looks to win the championship for the first time since 2006.

Staal has been part of the Hurricanes organisation since arriving from the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2012 and was named captain in 2023.

Carolina booked their place in the Stanley Cup Final after defeating the Montreal Canadiens in five games in the Eastern Conference Final.

The Hurricanes closed out the series with a 6-1 victory in Game 5.

According to the Hurricanes, every player on the roster was available during Monday’s practice session ahead of Game 1.

The Golden Knights now stand between Carolina and a second Stanley Cup title in franchise history.

Game 1 takes place in Raleigh

The Stanley Cup Final begins on Tuesday night at Lenovo Center. Carolina enter the series after winning the Eastern Conference, while Vegas secured the Western Conference title to reach the championship round.

Staal’s comments come with the Hurricanes just days away from opening the series on home ice.
