The Carolina Hurricanes were able to shut out the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 to win their second Stanley Cup title. Throughout the season, the Hurricanes showed dominance over every side of the ice, and they came into the postseason with one goal in mind. With the win, this salary cap stat continues to hold true, according to Dre Livingstone of SDPN Sports.
“Once again no one with a cap hit over $10M has won the Stanley Cup. Hurricanes highest AAV was $9.75M,” Livingstone wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
When looking at the Hurricanes’ salary cap, it looks like the highest-paid player on the team is Sebastian Aho, as he’s getting paid $9.75 million for this season.
That shows that these teams have found a way to stay financially flexible while still competing at a high level, and it will be interesting to see which team breaks the streak.
At the end of the day, it matters what kind of players you have on the team, but what matters the most is the coach, and Rod Brind’Amour held it down for his team through this run.
“I’m so happy for these guys, you know, Brind’Amour said via Bleacher Report Open Ice. “I wanted it as a player, I really wanted it. But I wanted it for these guys as a coach, because it means so much. To see how happy they are, I’m an old guy now. But I had my one, trust me I’m happy we got another one, but it’s for these guys. It’s what it’s all about.”
