Jake Oettinger made 22 saves for his 15th career shutout and the host Dallas Stars defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-0 on Thursday night.

It was Oettinger's third shutout of the season and the sixth time the Jets have been shut out.

Arttu Hyry and Adam Erne had a goal and an assist each and Matt Duchene also scored for the Stars (45-19-12, 102 points), who snapped their two-game losing streak and had been 1-4-2 in their previous seven.

Connor Hellebuyck stopped 18 shots for the Jets (32-31-12, 76 points), who had won four out of their last five and are chasing a Western Conference wild-card playoff spot.

Dallas scored twice in a span of 1:29 to take a 2-0 lead in the middle of the first period.

Duchene got a power-play goal 9:43 into the game when he banked a shot in off of Hellebuyck from below the goal line to Hellebuyck's right.

Hyry made it 2-0 with 8:48 left in the opening period by completing a three-way passing play with a shot from the bottom of the right circle off the rush. It was Hyry's second NHL goal and was the result of a turnover by Alex Iafollo in the Winnipeg zone.

The Stars had an 11-4 shots advantage in the first.

Erne made it 3-0 2:15 into the second period when he tipped in a shot from the left point by defenseman Lian Bichsel.

Winnipeg defenseman Elias Salomonsson left in the middle of the second period with an injury after a hit from Dallas' Jason Robertson.

The two captains, the Jets' Adam Lowry and the Stars' Jamie Benn, fought at center ice at 9:24 of the third period.

Oettinger made an outstanding save on Connor from the bottom of the right circle during a Winnipeg power play with around 8:50 left.

Morgan Barron returned for the Jets after missing two games with a concussion.
