The Jets have emerged as a top suitor for one of the Islanders' key forwards that has been placed on the trade block, per NHL insiders from 'The Fourth Period.'
The NHL's silly season has begun, and with it, 'The Fourth Period' does their annual 'Summer Trade Watch List', including players potentially on the trade block as teams start their preparations for the 2025-26 season.
As is customary, David Pagnotta of 'The Fourth Period' has compiled a list of key trade candidates, drawn from a combination of media rumors and their own league sources.
The list does not contain unrestricted free agents and will be updated from time to time throughout the offseason.
Player ratings will be revised and revisited by their expert panel when new information comes to light. Some names will move up and down, and some will be added as the summer progresses.
An important aspect to note is that player teams listed are compiled by a mix of media coverage and in-house data and are subject to revision.
Coming in at number 10 on their list is Jean-Gabriel Pageau, a centerman for the New York Islanders.
'The previous regime on Long Island explored the trade market on Pageau, and new GM Mathieu Darche may do the same as Pageau is going into the last year on his contract. He does, however, own a 16-team no-trade list.Teams reportedly Linked:
Winnipeg, Carolina, Boston, Minnesota'- The Fourth Period
The Islanders have already dipped their toes into the trade waters with Pageau, and new GM Mathieu Darche may go back to those talks with the key forward heading into the last year of his contract.
The 16-team no-trade clause makes it tricky, but interest is growing. Teams reportedly linked are Winnipeg, who is listed as the top team of interest, but Carolina, Boston, and Minnesota are also eager and interested, according to various insiders.
The next few weeks leading up to next season are going to definitely be very interesting.
