According to a team announcement, the Winnipeg Jets have signed netminder Isaac Poulter to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season. It’s Poulter’s second consecutive one-year contract with the Jets organization.

Poulter, 24, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Jersey Devils ahead of the 2022-23 campaign. He had wrapped up his junior career with the WHL’s Swift Current Broncos the season before, managing a 20-23-6 record in 49 games with a .911 SV% and 3.00 GAA, including five shutouts.

Like many undrafted netminders, Poulter had to work his way up from the ECHL to consistent playing time in the AHL. Throughout the 2022-23 season, Poulter split his time between the AHL’s Utica Comets and ECHL’s Adirondack Thunder, understandably performing much better with the latter.

The following season, Poulter had a much better performance in the AHL. In a backup role, the Winnipeg, MB native managed a 17-8-1 record in 28 games with a .911 SV% and 2.55 GAA. Effectively ending his time in the ECHL, Poulter spent the 2024-25 campaign entirely in the AHL, finishing with a 16-13-7 record in 36 games with a .898 SV% and 2.86 GAA.

Despite his mild but steady development, the Devils chose not to issue a qualifying offer to Poulter, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent. He quickly joined his hometown team, signing a one-year, two-way contract with the Jets on the second day of free agency.

Still, Poulter didn’t spend much of his first year with the organization in his home city, nor even in his home province. He spent nearly his entire season back in the ECHL with the Norfolk Admirals, finishing with a 25-17-1 record in 43 games, with a .905 SV% and 2.76 GAA. Unfortunately, given that Thomas Milic and Domenic DiVincentiis are signed through next season, it’s unlikely Poulter will find himself with the Manitoba Moose unless there’s an injury.
