The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Isak Rosen to a two-year, $1.85MM contract extension. The deal will carry an annual average value of $925K. Winnipeg acquired Rosen from the Buffalo Sabres ahead of the Trade Deadline in a move that sent defensemen Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn to the Sabres. The Jets also acquired defender Jacob Bryson, a 2026 fourth-round pick, and 2027 second-round pick in the deal.
Rosen stuck in Winnipeg’s lineup through the end of the 2025-26 season. He had a quiet showing, scoring just three goals in 21 games while rotating through the Jets’ bottom-six. While his statline didn’t pop, Rosen was a leading piece of Winnipeg’s injection of youth near the end of the season. He also showed a nice bit of chemistry with fellow high-speed youngster Brad Lambert and center Morgan Barron – a line that could stick next season with all three players now under contract. At just 23 years old, a carved-out spot in the lineup and consistent linemates could go far in supporting Rosen’s footing in Winnipeg’s 2026-27 lineup.
Rosen showed flashes of promising hockey during his time in the Sabres organization. He was a shining scorer with the AHL’s Rochester Americans for much of his four seasons with the club. Rosen earned top-line minutes during the 2023-24 season, when he scored 20 goals and 50 points in 67 games. That performance was followed by a team-leading 28 goals and 55 points in 61 games of the 2024-25 season. He continued to stand as Rochester’s leading scorer through much of this season, on the back of 43 points in 37 games, until an NHL call-up and trade pulled him away.
It wasn’t until this season that Rosen’s minor-league scoring began to follow him into the NHL. He recorded seven points in 16 games with the Sabres before his trade. At his best, Rosen shined as a speedy playmaker capable of taking advantage of changes in pace. He will now seek his footing at the top level following the end of his entry-level contract. That race to lock down an NHL role will make Rosen a name to follow closely once training camp rolls around.
