Joel Farabee Calls Out John Tortorella After Flyers Departure: 'I'm Trusted Here'

The Philadelphia Flyers are not headed for the playoffs in 2025.

Knowing that's been the writing on the wall for a while, general manager sent two core players in Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost to the Calgary Flames in January.

Farabee has been flourishing in Calgary. He scored the lone goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

He's played 13 games and although has only scored three goals since arriving to his new team, Farabee made it clear that he is much more comfortable in the Flames' system than how he was used within that of the Flyers' with head coach John Tortorella at the helm.

"It's a real treat," Farabee said after the win. "I started my career in Philly as a guy that would kind of of go out there in the last minute and then when Torts came in that was no longer. So it's really nice to be trusted and to be out there."

Tortorella and Farabee had their share of conflicts during their time in Philadelphia, including an incident that transpired a couple of weeks before the trade. Tortorella benched Farabee for almost an entire game, citing a failure to follow instructions.

"Up until probably a couple of weeks ago, I liked his game," Tortorella said about the benching in mid-January. "The production wasn't there, but he was involved. We break tapes down and we have all sorts of information after games, and he's involved in a lot of the offense. Unfortunately he doesn't score, sometimes guys he fed didn't score. But the past couple of weeks, it has just gotten stale."
