John Cooper and Team Canada Confirm Their Starting Goalie for Game 1: Samuel Montembeault's Fate Sealed

We have an update regarding Montreal Canadiens goaltender Samuel Montembeault. We were eager to see what Samuel's role would be with Team Canada in this Four Nations Faceoff.

We now have our answer, and it seems to be final.

Head coach Jon Cooper mentioned that there would be no goalie rotation for the tournament, meaning there will be a number one, a number two, and a number three... and unfortunately for Montembeault, he appears to be number three.

In any case, it has already been confirmed that he will NOT be the starting goaltender tomorrow.

Samuel Montembeault will not be in net for Canada tomorrow: it will come down to two, between Adin Hill and Jordan Binnington

It's worth mentioning that both Binnington and Hill are Stanley Cup champions, so that must certainly be a factor in Jon Cooper's decision.

Update: It has just been confirmed by head coach Jon Cooper, Jordan Binnington is Team Canada's starting goaltender!

Jordan Binnington will be in net for Team Canada tomorrow against Sweden, according to head coach Jon Cooper according to Chris Johnston.
