John Tortorella was fired by the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2024/25 season, but already, it appears his next job in the NHL has been lined up.

John Tortorella has been coaching in the NHL for a very long time, and while his tenures as of late have always begun with success, as time wears on, he wears down his welcome, and in 2024/25, that happened with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Given the way he's treated his players in recent times and the criticism that brings with it, many believed that this could have signalled the end of his coaching career in the NHL, but that may not be the case any longer.

After the New York Rangers all but confirmed that Mike Sullivan will be their next Head Coach, a new report has revealed that the team could look to bring Tortorella aboard in some capacity on Sullivan's staff.

This comes a week after speculation began that Tortorella could be headed to the Big Apple, with reporter Sammi Silber revealing that it was owner James Dolan that pushed for this, given that he's a huge fan of Tortorella.

With a lack of interest in Torts as a Head Coach, it's no surprise that he's looking to remain in the NHL, and as an assistant, he could no doubt play an important role, especially on a team like New York that are full of veterans.

Only time will tell if the new duo of Sullivan/Tortorella can help the Rangers turn things around after a very disappointing campaign, and while there will be plenty of fans that don't like this move, as an assistant, if handled correctly, Tortorella could be a fantastic coach for some time to come.
