The moment has finally come, Jets fans, as Jonathan Toews landed in Winnipeg and spoke to reporters for the very first time as a member of his new team.
It was a source of pride in Winnipeg on Friday as Jonathan Toews was announced as the newest addition to the Jets.
The 37-year-old is coming back to the NHL after a two-year layoff due to illness, signing a one-year deal worth $2 million with up to $5 million in bonuses.
It was a welcome return for Toews as he wore a Jets jersey bearing his signature No. 19.

The Manitoba native has been preparing for his return after undergoing an Ayurvedic detox in India and increasing training in the past weeks. He last played in April 2023 and hadn't played in the playoffs since 2020.

Toews comes back with a legend's resume. A three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Chicago Blackhawks, he has two Olympic gold medals, a World Cup championship, World Championship gold, and two World Junior championships.
His individual awards include the Conn Smythe Trophy (2010), a Selke Trophy (2013), and being named best forward at the 2010 Olympics.
A 1,200-game-plus NHL veteran, Toews has crossed the 20-goal mark in 12 of his 15 seasons, with 35 goals and 81 points in 2018-19, for instance.
He's also a playoff producer, with 45 goals and 119 points in 137 playoff games, and 69 regular-season game-winners. A provincial hero in his own right, Toews now adds championship credentials and leadership to his hometown team.
